Canseco is a Mexican alternative-rock band from Tijuana, Mexico, founded in 2004. The band’s debut LP “El Tiempo y la Ciudad”, released in 2007, has become a cult classic in the Mexican indie-rock scene, with lyrics that touch on topics that range from broken hearts to politics to life in the border, with a soft-folky style sound that encompasses many of the band’s musical influences. Since then, the band has produced two EPs, and multiple singles and has participated in Mexican rock compilations.

Since its inception, the band has toured extensively across Mexico and the border region, sharing the stage with international bands such as Keane, The Get Up Kids, Nada Surf, Alan Parsons, among others, and participated in important music festivals such as South by Southwest (Austin, TX), Vive Latino (Mexico City), Avandaro (Tijuana), and many others.

In May 2020, Canseco released a new song called “Volar”, sold directly to fans online, with all proceeds going to Bancos de Alimentos de Mexico. Currently, the band is demoing songs that will be part of its next album.
